  1. 24 Ways LinkedIn Can Benefit Small Business


    Social media is here to stay. And whether you choose to use YouTube or Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn – being connected is a big part of today’s businesses. But while many business owners recognize Facebook and Twitter’s potential, they are unaware of the many ways that LinkedIn can help their business grow. However, recent reports from iTracks and     Performics reveal the following about LinkedIn:

    • When Performics surveyed nearly 3,000 businesses, 59% of responders agreed that a LinkedIn account holds the highest value for professionals.
    • Results also showed that of respondents with an active LinkedIn account, 50% visit the site at least weekly and 20% visit the site at least daily.
    • In regards to the importance of LinkedIn as the most important social networking site, studies show that the numbers jumped dramatically from 41% last year to 59% this year.
    • Of the 89% of Web companies using social media that participated in the iTracks study, 49% said that LinkedIn provides the best return on investment.

  2. WordPress 3.2 Update

    Yesterday Matt Mullenweg, a bigwig with the WordPress content management system, posted this:

    We waited to email because there were some issues  with the JSON module on some web hosts, which the just-released version 3.2.1 fixes.   3. Geotargeting and Social Media

    Last post, we learned about geotargeting and PPC; however, another way to make the most of geotargeting is with social media sites like Foursquare (it has more than 7 million users), Facebook (over 500 million users) and the multitude of others. After all, these sites have millions of users (read “potential customers”) that visit their social media accounts on a regular basis. The use of geotargeting combined with social media is another prime way to help your business flourish.

  4. How Geotargeting Can Help Your Business

    What steps are you taking to ensure the success of your business? Are you blogging? Have you started using social media sites like Facebook or LinkedIn? Perhaps you are doing these business-promoting activities and want to do something more. If so, then why not take advantage of geotargeting? Geotargeting is defined as the ability to target users by city, state, country and zip code. And, while for those who specialize in internet marketing geotargeting is nothing new, its potential is rapidly being seen by business owners in the areas of SEO, Social Media and Pay-per-click advertising.

    Businesses using geotargeting can ensure they are found quickly by consumers doing web searches. How? If you own an Italian restaurant and it is listed on the web using geotargeting, when a consumer types in “city + Italian restaurant” a map will show up with area Italian restaurants marked, as well as an assortment of information.

  5. Warning: Google Apps and YouTube Don’t Mix!

    We had an issue with a client that is using Google Apps for their email and when they went to their YouTube account, it told them that since Google bought Youtube, their Youtube account info needs to be merged with a Gmail/Google account. It suggested merging with his Google Apps account, which Google now treats just like any other Gmail account. Well, guess what? Google Apps accounts don’t support integration with Youtube, so if you link them up you get a lovely “This service is not available” message and you’re locked out of your YouTube account!

    To fix it, you need to unlink your account which you can do here:

    http://www.youtube.com/my_account_unlink

    Then you can create a brand new Gmail/Google account here and then try to log in to your Youtube account using your OLD info and when it asks you to link the account with a Google Account make sure you link it to this new Gmail account – NOT your Google Apps account.
